The Power of Art
The artistic talents of several Kittay House tenants are taking New York by storm.
This past winter, tenants were invited to submit paintings, photographs and woodcarvings to the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NYAHSA) 2009 Art Competition & Exhibit. Over 200 artists from facilities through the state submitted artwork.
Kittay House tenants Julius Horowitz, Edward Martin, Margo Rice, Marianne Ultmann and Budd Williams and their art teacher Lucy Degidon were selected for recognition. Their artwork will be part of the traveling art show, where seventy pieces will be featured at a number of NYAHSA-member facilities.
Additionally, two Kittay House tenants, Charlotte Parker and Jean Sneddon, received the honor of Staff Choice awards. Their artwork will be on display at the NYAHSA offices in Albany until November. All of the participants in the competition should be proud of their accomplishments and of their abilities within the artistic world.
