Kittay House to Celebrate its "Jack Benny" Anniversary
Legendary comedian, Jack Benny, never admitted to being a minute over 39 years old. His "shtick" stuck as he continued to celebrate his 39th birthday 41 times!
Following in his memorable footsteps, Kittay House celebrated its "Jack Benny" milestone on July 24th, the occasion of its very first 39th Anniversary!

SAR Students "Monkey Around" at Kittay House!
A lively debate about equal opportunity, discrimination and even the role that government plays triggered passionate responses recently from a group spanning nine decades!
On Monday, May 18th, 9th graders from Riverdale's SAR Academy entered into an intense literary analysis about a piece from Kurt Vonnegut's collection of short stories, Welcome to the Monkey House, with a dynamic group of tenants from Kittay House.

The Power of Art
The artistic talents of several Kittay House tenants are taking New York by storm. This past winter, tenants were invited to submit paintings, photographs and woodcarvings to the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NYAHSA) 2009 Art Competition & Exhibit. Over 200 artists from facilities through the state submitted artwork.
Kittay House tenants Julius Horowitz, Edward Martin, Margo Rice, Marianne Ultmann and Budd Williams and their art teacher Lucy Degidon were selected for recognition. Their artwork will be part of the traveling art show, where seventy pieces will be featured at a number of NYAHSA-member facilities.

Poetry Publication Party
An avenue of expression and even catharsis through poetry writing has been engaging thirteen Kittay House tenants during the month of May.
Celebrating the conclusion of their fifth and final workshop, a publication party was held on June 17th in Kittay's Fox Auditorium. Members were presented with a printed anthology containing the poems written during the workshop.
