Poetry Publication Party

An avenue of expression and even catharsis through poetry writing has been engaging thirteen Kittay House tenants.

Celebrating the conclusion of their fifth and final workshop, a publication party was held on June 17th in Kittay’s Fox Auditorium. Members were presented with a printed anthology containing the poems written during the workshop.

Participants in the program shared their literary works with the Kittay Community by hosting a group reading of their thought-provoking and meaningful words. Neighbors, friends and relatives attended and were inspired by the writings of this talented group.

Steven Sher, renowned poet and author affiliated with Poets House, a 50,000-volume poetry library and literary center, leads the weekly writing workshops. The National Endowment for the Arts funded the workshop through its Creativity and Aging Initiative, which uses poetry to “work against deterioration.”
