What a Dee-light!
The process of moving can be overwhelming, but not so at Kittay House. The talent for assuring smooth transitions and putting new tenants at ease by Dee Williams, our move-in/vacate manager, is due in part to her generous spirit and soulful considerations.
Dee surrounds herself with music – even from day one. With a family full of singers, fate was predestined. She soon discovered the delight of singing along with records as well as the beauty of singing in her church's gospel choirs.
Upon moving to New York City she would play live shows with her friends and was involved with the nighttime music scene of New York City and London. When she was 27, Dee started raising her sister’s son and gently put the brakes on singing at night.
When she initially started working at Kittay House, no one knew of her secret talent... that is, until one day Dee was overheard singing along with the radio. Someone mentioned her ability to Amy Gruszewski, our Creative Arts Leader.
Now, Dee performs during Kittay House events and the tenants applaud in awe of her talent. Dee considers herself a "No Drama Diva" because she knows that "everyone is always doing 17 things at once and the last thing they need is a misbehavin’ diva."
