The Beauty of Collaboration
Strength is in numbers. In the case of Kittay House and the Bronx Jewish Community Council, collaboration resulted in a beautiful New Year for isolated and needy individuals in surrounding neighborhoods.
Using recyclable tote bags, over twenty Kittay tenant volunteers assembled packages filled with jars of honey, symbolic for a sweet New Year, along with other traditional staples for Rosh Hashanah, like bottles of wine and challah.

There for Each Other: a Lifelong Friendship
Everyday Rhoda Kaufman, 88, and Shirley Friedman, 84, meet to eat lunch and dinner together. They live in their own apartments and have their own circles of friends, but first and foremost, they have each other. Rhoda and Shirley are sisters, as well as tenants at Kittay House

Counting Coins for City Harvest
It's raining nickels, dimes, quarters and even dollar bills, and City Harvest is reaping the benefit.
Two large water cooler jugs, strategically placed on the Kittay campus by husband and wife tenants, Edna and Mort Nelkin, were filled by tenants who donated their change upon leaving the on-premise Cafe; others contributed their winnings from a friendly hand of Blackjack; some just put in a dollar bill on their way to the dining room on a regular basis.
