Counting Coins for City Harvest
It’s raining nickels, dimes, quarters and even dollar bills, and City Harvest is reaping the benefit.
Two large water cooler jugs, strategically placed on the Kittay campus by husband and wife tenants, Edna & Mort Nelkin, were filled by tenants who donated their change upon leaving the on-premise Cafe; others contributed their winnings from a friendly hand of Blackjack; some just put in a dollar bill on their way to the dining room on a regular basis.
The final count was $400 to help feed the needy of New York City. Edna, one half of the dynamic duo who spearheaded the fundraising project, exclaimed during the final count, "It feels good to do good. Kittay House certainly lived up to its generous reputation by supporting this project for City Harvest.”
