A chance to say ‘Thank You’ to the Jones Family
For Jewish Home employees aspiring to advance or begin a career in nursing, the Rory and David A. Jones Fund for Nursing Education provides scholarships and support.
The annual Jones Nursing Education Fund Breakfast, honoring scholarship recipients, allows beneficiaries of the fund to meet the Jones family, whose ongoing commitment to educating and empowering the workforce has helped numerous Jewish Home staff members forward their careers. It also allows recipients to share their stories and gratitude.
“As a college student and working mom, I have more than enough stress to deal with,” said Odetta Hoppie, a C.N.A. pursing L.P.N. certification. “Because of this scholarship, I can plan ahead financially, and put the purchase of books and other supplies into perspective without worrying as I did in the past.”
Rafael Vasquez, who began working for Jewish Home in 1989 at age 18, is currently employed as an L.P.N. at the Sarah Neuman Center. With the help of the Jones Fund, he is studying to become a Registered Nurse. Rafael spoke from his heart as he thanked the Jones family, as well as Jewish Home.
Rory and David Jones have been supporters of Jewish Home since 1982. David served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1997 to 2001, and is currently a member of the Sarah Neuman Board.
Established in 1989, the Jones Fund plays a pivotal role in addressing the need for a dedicated and qualified staff, and enables Jewish Home to help employees to grow within the field of nursing. The fund supports continuing education for career advancement by underwriting education-related expenses including childcare, transportation, books, meals, uniforms and supplies.
