Trustee Linda Spitzer and her husband Jerry recently hosted a gathering of Jewish Home Lifecare Trustees, donors and friends for an evening’s presentation and discussion on the topic of Technology.

Speakers included Bridget Gallagher, Senior Vice President of JHL’s Community Services Division, and Roger Logan, Director of Brand Management and New Media, who described the many innovative uses of technology at Jewish Home Lifecare to enhance the quality of care and enrich the quality of life of the elders we serve.  Among items discussed – and demonstrated – were various “telemedicine” devices that allow our clients to remain living independently at home while having their health monitored daily by health care professionals and Nintendo’s Wii, whose use in our Adult Day Care Centers has  increased clients’ physical and emotional self-confidence.  Additional technological advances enable residents in our nursing homes to enjoy live satellite-broadcast programs from the 92nd Street Y, and to send and retrieve email, exchange photos and videos, and surf the Internet, via our Computer Connections Program.
