Trustee Randolph Guggenheimer, Jr. and his wife Jane (right) recently hosted an evening’s presentation and discussion on the topic of Palliative Care. Jewish Home Lifecare Trustees and their guests attended the gathering at the Guggenheimers’ home.
We were proud to highlight the pioneering partnership in Palliative Care between The Mount Sinai Medical Center and Jewish Home Lifecare as we provide care to individuals and families making end-of-life decisions, ensuring that the patient’s quality of life is always of the utmost importance.
Both Mount Sinai’s Dr. Diane Meier and Jewish Home’s Dr. Eileen Chichin (below) engaged the group in a substantive conversation on the issues surrounding end-of-life care.
Dr. Chichin is Co-Director of the Center on Ethics at Jewish Home Lifecare, and has a faculty appointment in geriatrics at Mount Sinai. Dr. Meier has been a faculty member in the Department of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine since 1983 and is currently the Catherine Gaisman Professor of Medical Ethics and chief of the Division of Geriatrics for the Department of Medicine.
We are grateful to the Guggenheimers for their gracious hospitality and to Drs. Meier and Chichin, as well as Mount Sinai’s Dr. Betty Lim and resident family member Karen Oestreicher for an outstanding discussion.
