Foundation Support

Support from community, private and family foundations plays a major role at Jewish Home Lifecare in support of existing services and the development of new and innovative programs. For example:

Our pilot Geriatric Career Development Program receives support from the Altman Foundation, the J.E. & Z.B. Butler Foundation, the Stella and Charles Guttman Foundation, The Fred and Judy Wilpon Family Foundation, and the New York Community Trust. Our Intergenerational Program just received a renewal grant from the Pinkerton Foundation.

Telemedicine Programs for community elders are being funded by the Jewish Funders Network/Weinberg Foundation Matching Grants Initiative for Jewish Older Adults.

A program in Palliative Care for elders living in the community is being supported by the Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation. The David Berg Foundation has provided support for our Elder Abuse Prevention Program.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation continues to generously support our Senior Housing Programs and the Nash Family Foundation recently awarded us funding to support Jewish Life Programming at Kittay House.

Public Support

Jewish Home Lifecare also partners with city, state and federal offices and agencies in several service and program areas. For example:

We currently have a six year contract with New York City Department for the Aging for our Intergeneration Program. We also receive DFTA support for our nursing home residents’ Recreational Trips and Activities Program.

At the request of the Bronx Borough President’s Office, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation is working with us to finalize support for a new HUD 202 Housing for Very Low Income Seniors project. This project is being made possible thanks to the original award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The New York State Department of Health has awarded Jewish Home Lifecare funding for demonstration projects with Telemedicine.

Corporate and Organizational Support

In existence since 1848, Jewish Home Lifecare has long been a member of UJA Federation of New York. UJA lends us support through its educational programs, consultation services and through general and programmatic funding support of programs such as our Community Services Division’s Friendly Visiting Program.

UJA volunteers help us to deliver fun and entertaining Recreational Activity Programs to residents. We are also indebted to other groups, such as volunteers from Goldman Sachs and the Junior League of New York, for assisting staff members with these programs.

Community Wellness Programs are held on all three of our nursing home campuses, in part thanks to the support of Pfizer, Inc.
