It was the battle of the summer…  Jewish Home Lifecare’s Executive Chefs from the Bronx and Manhattan competed for the title of Iron Chef Jewish Home.

The pre-Labor Day grill-off took place in the garden of Jewish Home Lifecare’s Manhattan campus and featured a Mediterranean-themed menu complete with regional red and white wines.

On one side of the ring was Manhattan’s Executive Chef Nicholas Brooks who prepared marinated chicken kabobs. On the other side was Bronx campus Executive Chef Daniel Jiminez who grilled up marinated beef kabob.  All dishes were created using fresh local ingredients that were purchased from a local farm.

Residents of Jewish Home Lifecare’s Manhattan nursing home enjoyed live music while they observed the chefs tended to their kabobs on the grill.

The three judges rated the dishes based on taste and texture. While it was a very close match, the chicken kabob was the favorite – making Manhattan Executive Chef Nicholas Brooks the new Iron Chef Jewish Home.
