Save money and help save the planet by leaving your car at home. Avoid the stress of the morning drive and avoid gas costs – find a new way to work!

LEAVE YOUR CAR AT HOME DAY takes place on Thursday, November 6, on all our Jewish Home Lifecare campuses. On this day, we are asking all employees to find a way to get to work other than driving alone.
LEAVE YOUR CAR AT HOME DAY is only for one day, but we hope employees will use the transportation information from the event year-round.
Single occupancy vehicles contribute to poor air quality in the New York. The pollutants released from burning fuel contribute to increased levels of asthma and other cardiovascular problems, and pose a particular threat to the weaker immune systems of children and elders.
Jewish Home Lifecare has partnered with Clean Air NY, CommuterLink, and MetroPool, non-profit organizations sponsored by the Department of Transportation, to help organize the event and to provide information on alternate forms of transportation.
CommuterLink and MetroPool can set up personalized public transit routes for employees, and can assist with carpool arrangements. CommuterLink works strictly within the five boroughs and will be working with the Bronx and Manhattan divisions; MetroPool works outside of the five borough and will be working with Sarah Neuman.
CommuterLink has set up one-day information booths in the Bronx and one in Manhattan. They have provided employees with transit maps and personalized public transit routes for their commute. CommuterLink representatives have enthusiastically responded to employees’ concerns about commuting. For employees that missed the information booth, CommuterLink has also made the information available online and in PDF format.
MetroPool will hold an information booth at Sarah Neuman on October 28th. In addition to providing knowledge about all types of public transit, MetroPool works with NuRide, an online carpool matching program that offers rewards for carpooling.
