Prevention, Detection and Treatment of Vision Impairments

A free health education program, “The Health of Your Eyes: Prevention, Detection and Treatment of Vision Impairments,” will be held Wednesday, April 2, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Kittay House, 2550 Webb Avenue, Bronx, on the campus of Jewish Home Lifecare. Light dinner is included.

Speakers are:

Relly Chern, MD, an ophthalmologist at the Jewish Home, who will provide an overview on vision health and tips on prevention and detection of vision problems.

Roy Cole, MD, optometrist, director of Vision Program Development with Jewish Guild for the Blind, who will discuss rehabilitation for vision impairment and adaptive devices available to assist vision.

Amy Horowitz, PhD,  director of research at Jewish Home Lifecare, who will discuss social and emotional issues associated with vision loss and the impact on families.
Co-sponsors are: New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, Jewish Guild for the Blind, James J. Peters Veterans Administration Hospital, Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, American Diabetes Association, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, and UJA Federation of New York.
