Jewish Home Lifecare :: Caring as individual as you

Helping Hands, Young and Old

Helping Hands, Young and Old

Jewish Home Lifecare recently added an Ambassador Volunteer Program through the AARP Foundation as part of our Communities of Caring. In an effort to bring mature, public-spirited individuals with a genuine interest and desire to assist the elderly, Ambassador Volunteers help by:

  • Welcoming new residents and their families
  • Answering questions and addressing concerns
  • Helping familiarize new residents with their daily routine and the healthcare staff
  • Assisting residents with dining
  • Implementing culture change

Catherine Courtney Marino has been involved in community service for much of her life and was one of the first AARP Ambassadors assigned to Jewish Home Lifecare. She considers herself much more than a greeter and has become part of many residents’ extended families. She says, “I regard this as a beautiful opportunity to help. It’s a gift to me.”

Helping patients feel at home is an important component of the Jewish Home Lifecare Communities of Caring initiative.
