Our Committment to Affordable Housing

Webb AvenueDedicated to the well-being of Bronx elders, Jewish Home Lifecare is ensuring low-income seniors have more opportunities for affordable housing and health services. With inclement weather conditions curtailing this outdoor event, a special indoor-groundbreaking ceremony for the new Harry and Jeanette Weinberg/Webb Avenue Senior Residence took place with city officials, trustees and friends in attendance on Monday, May 19th. This new residence is Jewish Home’s third HUD Section 202 affordable senior housing development in the Bronx.

When completed, the new Webb Avenue building will have 71 one-bedroom apartments for low-income elders. Tenants will benefit from the complete range of supportive and healthcare services provided by Jewish Home Lifecare, including short-stay rehabilitation and therapies, skilled nursing, home health care, adult day care, social services and a beautiful five-acre campus with award-winning gardens.

Jewish Home Lifecare was one of the first nursing homes to provide subsidized housing for seniors with built-in services to support them as they aged in place. The Bronx Division’s Harry and Jeanette Weinberg campus currently sponsors three senior residences: Kittay House,  independent living for seniors; the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Riverdale House, our first HUD 202 unit and the Kenneth Gladstone Building,  our second.
