Klezmer Plays at Bronx Adult Day Program

Lifting Spirits With Music Passed Down Through Generations

TromboneDavid Levitt, a music specialist for Jewish Home Lifecare’s Adult Day program in the Bronx, has Klezmer in his blood.  This fourth-generation musician regularly performs the Klezmer music taught to him by his father for Adult Day program clients.  On piano and trombone, he plays a mix of American standards like “Stardust” and classic Klezmer fare like “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen” for an appreciative audience.
The New York Times visited with him on the job and spoke to him about his heritage, and interviewed several of the adult daycare clients as well.
