Every summer for the past 13 years, volunteers from Goldman Sachs Community TeamWorks (CTW) have brought fun and compassion to residents at Jewish Home Lifecare.

This year, CTW volunteers helped Jewish Home Lifecare start the summer with a Cinco de Mayo festival and the Talents of Gold family talent show, and organized a series of 16 barbecues (currently underway) giving each resident the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed social gathering in the garden with live music, new friends and fresh food cooked on an open grill. CTW volunteers and Jewish Home staff take on all aspects of the cookout, including managing the grills, setting up tables and having lunch with residents.

Many residents are unable to venture out into the community, but thanks to CTW, the community comes to them. In partnership with CTW volunteers, Jewish Home’s therapeutic recreation staff creates a true sense of community at each barbecue.

“We are thrilled that CTW continues to support so many events,” says Miriam Levi, director of community life activities for Jewish Home. “It means a lot to our residents to be able to enjoy friendly faces, conversation, music and great food in our garden. The interaction between residents and volunteers and staff is incredibly moving and validates how important socially interactive activities are for our residents.”
