Since its founding in 1992, the Friends have inaugurated and conducted many imaginative projects for the center’s residents.  Friends work closely with the staff of the individual communities within Sarah Neuman to give residents some special attention.

Among new projects discussed were innovative garden therapy and cooking programs that involve residents’ participation.  The Friends will continue with residents’ shopping trips to CVS, cooking with residents, a bi-weekly English tea party, lunches at local restaurants, hosting 100th birthday parties for residents and their families, plus other programs within the center.

Members will also help to prepare dining scarves for residents to help them stay neat at meal times and during the day.

Friends share that feeling of warmth and satisfaction that comes from seeing residents enjoy themselves, and knowing how much it means to an older adult to have someone care about them.

Sarah Neuman has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available.  Become a Friend/Volunteer.  We welcome you and your ideas.  For more information call the volunteer office at (914) 864-5140 or email alionheart@jewishhome.org.
