Chefs from throughout Westchester and Connecticut are donating their talents and delicacies to a Gourmet Spring Tasting event to be held Sunday, May 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Century Country Club in Purchase.
This year’s fundraiser, featuring international cuisine and fine wine tasting, is dedicated to the memory of Richard Jacobs of Rye Brook, a longtime “trustee, friend, supporter and champion” of enhancing the quality of life for all residents, patients and clients at the 300 bed nursing home and rehabilitation center in Mamaroneck. Proceeds from the gala will benefit programs and services sponsored by Friends of Sarah Neuman, an auxiliary co-founded by his wife Patricia Jacobs, also a trustee.
The event is sponsored by Friends of Jewish Home Lifecare Sarah Neuman Center. Friends-sponsored activities include luncheons, cooking classes, shopping trips, art carts, tea parties on the dementia/special care units, birthday parties for centenarians, and a host of other programs designed to promote intergenerational socialization for Sarah Neuman residents.
Participating restaurants are: Alice’s Tea Cup (featured on the Today Show), Arrosto, La Panetiere, Willett House, Turkish Meze, Chaves, Le Provencal, and Koo. Also participating are: Cake in a Cup NY, Love Me Some Bakery and Chef Jonathan Taube, who conducts cooking classes and will cook in people’s homes.
