Sarah Neuman Holds Green Fair

Old sneakers find a second chance thanks to Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program and Sarah Neuman Center.

On June 2, Jewish Home Lifecare Sarah Neuman Center held its second annual Green Fair to help educate staff, residents, day care clients and visitors on how to lead more sustainable lives and better protect the environment.

More than 200 people participated in the event which also featured hands-on demonstrations from local vendors in the energy conservation, waste management, sustainable food and green cleaning products industries. Additionally, Sarah Neuman teamed up with the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program to conduct a sneaker recycling drive. The recycled sneakers will be used to create eco-friendly athletic surfaces such as basketball courts, running tracks, ball fields and playgrounds.

Sarah Neuman Center hopes to collect 500 pairs of sneakers. Jewish Home Lifecare continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability by making significant strides towards becoming green.
